Tom Dobson is the founder of Close the Gap Performance — a cycling coach with over 20 years of Army experience and a deep passion for helping riders reach their potential.
His journey into cycling started with triathlon before turning full focus to the bike. What began as being lapped in Army races soon became podium finishes, race selections, and a growing curiosity for how structured training creates lasting improvement. That same drive to learn and teach led Tom to build a coaching approach rooted in discipline, data, and purpose.
Now a British Cycling Level 2 Coach and Level 3 ABCC Accredited Coach, Tom brings both elite-level understanding and real-world empathy to his riders. Whether you’re starting out, chasing performance goals, or targeting your first race, Tom’s mission is to help you train smarter, ride stronger, and enjoy every step of the journey.
